Our silage tanks have double bottoms and double tank walls, constructed according to the same principles as NOFI Vakos BTC tanks. Tanks have a conical inner bottom with a fall to a drain-off in the centre. Draining is fed through the tank wall. Supplied fully ready for mixers, with security railings around the hatch and ladder with a secure platform. A lift system with a manual winch for lowering and raising of mixers can be supplied if required.
NOFI vertical cylindrical overground tanks are constructed from PEHD (High-Density Polyethylene), which is a robust, recyclable and durable material. At present, PE is the material normally used for the manufacture of pumping stations, tanks, wells and pressurised pipework, as it is particularly durable in a Nordic climate.
The polyethylene material is resistant to most chemicals and is used in tanks with temperatures up to +40 degrees C. The operating temperature, type of chemical and desired service lifetime from 15-50 years are base factors considered when calculating the design of tanks. The normal safety factor applied is between 1.5-2.0. PEHD tanks are used for drinking water, chemicals, silage and other technical production liquids.
Tanks are normally supplied in a black colour externally/light grey internall.
